BCN Gin

Long, warm Spanish afternoons, and the elegance of Barcelona nights are what inspired BCN Gin. The makers set out to create a gin which is balanced and refined, with an intense purity to it. 

Whilst created in Spain, it is the passion and design of Stefan Lismond, a native of Belgium (where he also learnt his art of distillation. 

It starts with a distillation made of the best Priorat wine pomace (which comes from carignan and grenache grapes). The process continues with seperate macerations of Mediterranean botanicals and citrus. The botanicals are based on organic Mediterranean rosemary, thyme, wild fennel, pine shoots, and juniper berries. The citrus comes from orange and lemon peels. Lastly (but cerainly not least), Catalan Figs are also included. The distillation is brought to the correct alcohol level using artesian spring water. 

Fun fact: The label and bottle is inspired by the tiled sidewalks of Barcelona which were designed in 1916 by the Belle Époque firm of Escofet Tejera & Co. he tile is in the shape of a flower with four petals, and is a vibrant symbol of Barcelona.

The result of this attention to detail, ensure a gin with a real Mediterranean feel. It's exceptionally fragrant, with a lot of fruit joined by herbal notes. On the palate fresh herbal flavours really shine - with mint, anise, and rosemary all coming through. These are balanced with a touch of spice from sumac and pink peppercorns.

Perfect Serve

Rich and full bodied, BCN can easily be enjoyed sipped. However it also holds its flavours exceptionally well either in cocktails (where it pairs well with other drinks which are herbal), or long drinks like a classic Gin & Tonic.

We loved this when paired with Seventeen Tonic Water. Take a large Spanish Copa Glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen tonic and stir gently. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and / or a wedge of lime. If you like additional flavour, try with Three Cents Aegean Tonic Water.
