Cuckoo Spiced Gin

All of the Cuckoo family of Gins are produced at the Brindle Distillery, in the British County of Lancashire (in the north-west of England). Here they produce their gins using all natural ingredients (where possible sourced locally, or grown on their own farm), as well as making use of fresh spring water which comes from an artesian aquifer located in the field next to their distillery.

They also ensure sustainability in everything they do, from utilising ethical and sustainable sources for their botanicals, to using biomass boilers to power their still (known as Maggie). And if that wasn't enough, they also make animal feed for their farm or compost from the waste botanical products. 

With their Spiced Gin, Cuckoo have created a gin which is a fiery infusion of warming and aromatic botanicals. This is definitely for the spice lovers, and perfect for a cool summers evening, or warming you during the colder months.

The botanicals they have used include clove, ginger, cinnamon, fennel and lemongrass. However, perhaps the most intruiging botanical is the Tellicherry Black Pepper, which is considered the finest pepper in the world. These are balanced out with floral notes of jasmine, and rosehips, fig, tonka bean (giving an unmistakable scent) and a sharp orange finish. 

As for the flavours and aromas you'll find in this gin there's no hiding the botanicals. Think warming spices, and a delicious tingle on the tongue from the pepper. The spices are balanced exceptionally well though with the floral notes - with the jasmine and rose really helping.

Perfect Serve

This is certainly a gin which packs a great amount of flavour. As such it works with a number of different tonics and mixers. We particularly liked this with Fentimans ginger ale or their Valencian Orange tonic.

Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen mixer and stir gently. Garnish with a slice of orange.
