LALA Tequila Blanco

LALA Tequila has its home in Amsterdam, but it was time spent in a Brooklyn bar that led 2 Dutch friends (Ambre and Iris) to bring the New York tequila culture to the Netherlands. After they returned, they had their memories, but the top-quality tequilas that were part of those memories, were not available. The obvious solution was of course to create Amsterdam’s first tequila brand

LALA Tequila starts with the agave. It is cooked for over 9 hours to soften to piña, making the sugar extraction process easier when milling. The cooked piñas are crushed to release the juice, that will become tequila, and the sugars are then fermented with yeast, a natural process which transforms the sugars to alcohol taking about 72 hours. Next is the distillation, not once, but twice, which produces the clean and smooth tequila.

LALA Tequila Blanco has the character of Jalisco, with ripe agave, olive oil, green apple and herbal notes of aniseed and freshly cut grass.

A great tequila and a great name. La comes from the female signifier in many languages, and as there are 2 female founders - LALA is perfect.

Tequila is to be enjoyed, it’s not just for shots.

For a delicious Margarita cocktail, firstly salt the rim of a chilled glass by rubbing a wedge of lemon around the rim before placing into a saucer of salt. Add 45ml LALA Tequila, 30ml fresh lime juice, 20ml triple sec and 10ml simple syrup into a cocktail shaker and shake well. Strain into your salt rimmed glass, with ice and add a slice of lemon. Delicious.
