Description

Beefeater London Garden Gin

Known the world over, Chelsea Physic Gardens would most likely have been frequented often by Beefeater's original Master Distiller, James Burrough. The proliferation of plants most likely served as an inspiration to Beefeater’s original recipe.

When Beefeater's current Master Distiller, Desmond Payne, heard of this he took inspiration himself from the gardens. The result is Beefeater London Garden Gin, a limited release.

The full compliment of botanicals found in this gin are juniper, thyme, lemon verbena, seville orange peel, lemon peel, almond, coriander seed, liquorice root, orris root, angelica root and angelica seed.

In this edition, through the use of these botanicals Beefeater have evolved from their typical (and well loved) citric london dry gin, and added additional herbal, leafy notes, through the use of lemon verbena and thyme.

The nose of this gin is lively - fresh citrus notes join with plenty of juniper creating a perfect balance. The lemon verbena ensures there is a distinct aroma of summertime.

The flavour varies slightly, depending on whether this is drunk neat, or with a tonic. Neat it has the perfect Beefeater clean, crisp and dry flavour - with pleasant bitter orange, and green botanicals. When tonic is added, the sweetness opens up slightly more, but still retaining the crispness from the juniper and citrus combination.

Perfect Serve

This works perfectly in a Gin & Tonic, giving it a savoury edge. A good neutral tonic is best, and we recommend Fentimans Premium Tonic Water. Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Top up the glass with 150 - 200ml of tonic and garnish with slice of lemon and a sprig of thyme.

A perfect cocktail for this gin is a Martini. In a mixing jug, or cocktail shaker filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin, 15ml of Dry Vermouth and 2-3 dashes of orange bitters. Mix well, and then strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a green olive.
