Bell's Original Whisky

The history of Bell's goes back to 1851. Arthur Bell (who was based in Perth, Scotland) began vatting malt whiskies together - thus ensuring a better level of consistency. He went on to combine malts and grains and created his own blended Scotch.

Whilst enjoying growth across the globe, it still remained popular in its home market. In 1970 it became Scotland’s leading blended Scotch, and this followed in 1978 becoming the best-selling blended Scotch in the UK (a title it still holds to this day).

Bell's Original today comprises a blend of up to 40 different malt and grain whiskies. Whilst each whisky imparts something to the overall blend there are a number which add a unique profile. The 'heart' is a malt - Blair Athol. The Speyside malt of Dufftown and the Lowlander Glenkinchie add to the blend’s character, along with a quantity of Caol Ila from Islay, which adds an island influence.

This is a whisky which offers soft grains and spices within the floral and fruity nose. On the palate it has a cereal sweetness and is nutty and spicy - yielding just a hint of smoky peat.

Perfect Serve

Whilst this works in the mix, we find it perfect for enjoying neat or on the rocks.
