Glenmorangie The Original 10 Years Old Whisky
The history of the Glenmorangie distillery goes back to 1843, when William Matheson acquired Morangie Farm and converted an existing brewery there to a distillery. This he equipped with two second-hand gin stills, and the production of whisky started.
In 2004 the LVMH (Louid Vuitton Moët Hennessy) group purchased the distillery, and rebranded the products to appeal to a wider audience - changing the bottle shapes, and names.
As the name suggests, The Original 10 Year Old was first released by the original founders. It is double distilled in their giraffe-high stills (which are the tallest in Scotland), and aged for 10 years in first and second fill American ex-bourbon casks. These casks include bespoke designer casks, especially imported from Missouri. This ensures the flavorus permeate the whisky fully - and develops the signature peach and vanilla flavours of Glenmorangie.
This is a smooth whisky, with a nose which is fruit, with rich notes of lemon, apple and nectarine - balanced with warm spice.
The flavours open with a citrus rush. As the whisky warms in the mouth, the layers of flavour open up. From orange to honey, into creamy vanilla and delectable bursts of peach.
