Inverroche Gin Verdant 70cl
A soft and floral South African gin from Inverroche
Description
Inverroche Gin Verdant
The Inverroche story begins with the founder, Lorna Scott and her family. It is basedin the local community of Stillbaai, which is located in the Western Cape of South Africa. In it's six year history, it has grown to become a flourishing craft distillery, which sells to over 15 markets across the world.
The Inverroche name itself pays tribute to the ancestry behind the Scott family - and references theur dual Celtic and Gaelic backgrounds. "Inver" is a Scottish word, and means 'a confluence of water', whilst "Roche" is French, and means 'rock, or stone'. These elements come together in Still Bay, so felt fitting as a name for these unique gins.
Whilst each of the three gins that the distillery produce are double distilled in small batches of only 250 bottles, the botanicals and flavour profiles differ in each.
Their Verdant, or 'Mountain' gin takes its name from the mountainous terrain of the Cape Floral Kingdom. It is fynbos from this region which is infused in the gin - giving it a transluscent golden-green hue and a floral softness.
This begins with delicate elderflower and chamomile aromas, before opening into a full summer bloom. There is a delicate hint of spice which is joined by soft piney juniper. Lemon rind and liquorice round out the flavours on the palate, enticing another sip.

Perfect Serve
This works exceptionally well with a neutral tonic, such as Fentimans Connoisseurs.
Take a large glass filled with ice and add 50ml of the gin. Gently pour over 150 - 200ml of your chosen tonic and stir gently. Garnish with a thin slice or twist of lime (and if available, some elderflowers).
