Knob Creek Rye Whiskey
Created by the same distillery as Jim Beam, Knob Creek's Rye Whiskey was released in 2012.
To create their Rye they age it in deeply charred barrels, which imparts the signature Knob Creek flavour. After the seven years the optimal flavour is reached - blending the sweet notes from the barrel with the spicy rye character.
This is a perfect introduction to rye's for the classic bourbon drinker - easily earning its place in your drinks cabinet!
On the nose there are rich notes of caramel, fresh ginger and herbal notes which join the robust rye. Still aged in oak, a spiciness also comes through from this.
On the palate there is the traditional spiciness from rye which coats the mouth perfectly. Whilst defined, it's not at all over-powering, and also brings through vanilla, creamy butter and brown sugar.
The finish is where the oask comes through, also bringing a hint of white pepper and leaving the spiciness of rye at the end.

Enjoyed best howeve you like it! But this is truly versatile, and adds delicious caramel spicy notes to cocktails.
Try in a Rye Old Fashioned, or for something different, a Scofflaw Cocktail. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice add 45ml of the Rye Whiskey, 30ml of Dry Vermouth, and 20ml each of fresh lemon jucie and Grenadine syrup. Shake well and strain into a glass. Garnish with a twist of orange zest.
