The Glenlivet 12Y Double Oak Whisky
The Original Malt Whisky Almanac says: "A first-class malt. One of the most popular malts in the world – deservedly so." This most definitely sets the scene for this popular, and indulgent whisky.
Their 12 Year Double Oak truly represents The Glenlivet's signature style. It's a classic malt, and is first matured in traditional oak casks, before it then spends further time in American oak casks (and hence the Double Oak on the bottle). This second maturation on the American Oak gives notes of vanilla and also ensures its distinctive smoothness.
This is a smooth, perfectly-balanced and fruity expression from The Glenlivet, with an enticing bright vibrant gold colour.
On the nose this whisky gives real fruity notes, which are reminiscent of the summer. On the palate the balance works perfectly in the mouth, and imparts the fruitiness and in particular strong pineapple flavours.
The finish is delicate, creamy and smooth, and takes the pineapple notes through right to the finish.

Perfect Serve
Deliciously smooth this whisky is easily enjoyed neat, or simply served on the rocks. The pineapple notes also work well when combined with a good ginger ale. We liked this with Lobsters Ginger Ale. 50ml of the whisky, a few ice cubes and 150ml of the ginger ale is perfect. Garnish with a slice of pineapple.
