Rutte Kaffir Lime Gin

With a long history, the Rutte distillery has been distilling in Dordrecht since 1872. They pass recipes from generation to generation, and whilst the Rutte family hasn't owned the distillery since the 1990's, its still their processes and recipes which inspire the current distillers.

A limited edition release, their Kaffir Lime gin was created by Rutte's Master Distiller Myriam Hendrickx, and inspired by a trip to Thailand. There the Kaffir Lime is used extensively in their cuisine, and during a cooking workshop Myriam was introduced to the Kaffir Lime leaves. She was amazed at the unique, fresh and aromatic taste these had - and couldnt wait to experiment with them.

The resulting gin is a delicious dry gin, which along with the Kaffir Lime leaves uses select other botanicals (including juniper berries, fennel and cinnamon) blend perfectly to create a uniquely refreshing gin. It has a bold and vibrant aroma, which is full of zesty lime. 

On the palate it has a smooth texture, with lots of juniper greeting you initially. Then imagine squeezing a lime... the oils from the zest, the aroma, and the taste - all of these come through strongly. A touch of floral, just the right amount of spice, and a whole lot of citrus ensure this is a refreshingly well balanced gin. 

The lime flavours remain through right to the finish, before being joined by herbaceous green leafy notes of the kaffir lime leaves linger in the mouth.

Perfect Serve

This makes a delicously fantastic gin & tonic - and we recommend Fentimans Connoiseurs for this one. 50ml of the gin and 150 - 200ml of the tonic work well. Mix over lots of ice and garnish with a slice of lime.

However this also works well and the mix, and obviously the top of the list would be a Gimlet Cocktail. Absolutely delicious!
