A deliciously fruity mix of sweet, bitter and acidic flavours make this a taste sensation
Description
Rutte Sloe Gin
With a long history, the Rutte distillery has been distilling in Dordrecht since 1872. They pass recipes from generation to generation, and whilst the Rutte family hasn't owned the distillery since the 1990's, its still their processes and recipes which inspire the current distillers.
The history behind Rutte's Sloe Gin goes back to the 1970's. John Rutte created it using gin and fresh berries picked by hand in the Biesbosch, a nature park close to Rutte's Dordrecht distillery.
Today, their Rutte Sloe Gin recipe consists of gin (within which sloe berries are steeped), a sloe berry distillate, a touch of traditional malt wine and herbs. The botanicals used in the creation are juniper, galangal, orange blossom, gentian and vanilla.
This ensures a Sloe Gin which is exceptionally well-balanced. The flavour is full, with an explosion of fruit flavours on the palate, which, like Sloe Berries is a mix of sweet, bitter and acidic notes. The finish is long, with the sloe flavours joining hints of almond.

Perfect Serve
Sloe Gin's can easily be enjoyed neat, or mixed with a tonic or Ginger Ale.
However, they can also be enjoyed with a sparkling wine as a Sloe Royal Cocktail. Take a Copue glass and add 50ml of Sloe Gin, and then add 100ml of your chosen sparkling wine. Garnish with a twist of orange peel.
